Nainital is a Himalayan resort town in the Kumaon region of India’s Uttarakhand state, at an elevation of roughly 2,000m. Formerly a British hill station, it’s set around Nainital Lake, a popular boating site with Naina Devi Hindu Temple on its north shore. A cable car runs to Snow View observation point (at 2,270m), with vistas over the town and mountains including Nanda Devi, Uttarakhand’s highest peak.
Pick up from Delhi and drive to Nainital. Located at an altitude of 1,938 mts. above sea level in the Kumaon region and is popularly known as the lake district of India. On arrival, check in at Hotel. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride on the famous Naini lake. It is believed that the Naini Lake is one of the 64 Shakti Peeths or religious sites where parts of the charred body of Sati fell on earth while being carried by Lord Shiva. The spot where Sati's eyes (or Nain) fell, came to be called Nain-tal or lake of the eye. After breakfast, drive for lake tour of Bhim Tal. Bhimtal is an ancient place named after Bhima of Mahabharata. Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple, an old Shiva temple in the bank of Bhimtal lake, is believed to have been built when Bhima visited the place during the banishment period of Pandavas. The present temple was built in the 17th century, by Baz Bahadur (1638–78 AD), a King of the Chand dynasty, and the Raja of Kumaon. Sat Tal, Naukuchia Tal. After breakfast, Procced to Ranikhet. Ranikhet is a hill station and cantonment town in Almora district in the India state Uttarakhand. It is the home of Kumaon Regiment (KRC) & Naga Regiment and maintained by Indian Army. Raniketh is at an altitude of 1869 meters above sea level and within sight of the western peaks of the Himalayas. Overnight stay in Ranikhet.
